SPLIT DECISION MITTS

SPLIT DECISION MITTS use DK weight yarn with modular construction to create unique and useful fingerless mitts. These mitts use multi-directional garter stitch to create a fun and functional fabric. This pattern is available in 4 sizes and coordinates wonderfully with my Split Decision Hat!

Can’t decide which one to use as your main color? Make a split decision, and reverse them for the second mitt. This perfectly imperfect resolution lets you get away with using just one 50 g skein of each color for any size.

YARN
Woolens and Nosh High Twist DK, 100 % Superwash Merino, 122 yd / 112 m per 50 g, 2 or more colors, or similar DK weight yarn.
www.woolensandnosh.com

150 (180, 206, 228) yd / 137 (165, 188, 208) m
62 (74, 85, 94) g
Estimate includes 15% buffer.
Samples shown use equal amounts of 2 colors. Mix and match colors and stripes as desired for a unique pair!

FINISHED CIRCUMFERENCE
Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4)
6.5” (7.3”, 8”, 8.7”) / 16.5 (18.5, 20.5, 22) cm

FINISHED LENGTH
7.3” (7.6”, 8.4”, 8.7”) / 18.5 (19.4, 21.2, 22) cm

Measure palm circumference using a fabric tape measure around widest part of the palm just below the knuckles. Choose mitt size based on this measurement and personal preference, as mitts can be worn with either negative or positive ease. Variations in gauge will also impact finished size.

GAUGE & NEEDLES
22 stitches & 44 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch knit flat, blocked
US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm or size needed to get gauge
Additional needle in same size as working needle for working small circumference knitting
Crochet hook of similar size for provisional cast-on

TECHNIQUES
Provisional cast-on, knit stitch, purl stitch, join-as-you-go modular knitting

PATTERN ATTRIBUTES
This is a written pattern with photo tutorials and a schematic.
